Safety Alert: “Extreme Honey” and Bayer Medical Recalls (2026)
Check your medicine cabinet and pantry for an urgent health update.
Making sure that whatever you eat is safe is my top job as a chemist, whether it’s a hospital-grade prescription or a ‘natural’ supplement. I am providing a key briefing today about two significant recalls that occurred in early March of 2026. In one, contaminated “sexual enhancement” honey is involved, while in the other, common medical imaging agents are impacted.
The “Extreme Honey” Risk: Red Bull Extreme and Boner Bear

A voluntary countrywide recall has been formally announced by Pure Vitamins LLC for its honey products, including “Boner Bear Honey,” “Red Bull Extreme,” and “Blue Bull Extreme.” The problem? The active components of prescription medications like Viagra and Cialis, sildenafil and tadalafil, were found in these items, according to FDA laboratory examination.
Why this is important to you:
These “honey packs” are often used by persons who believe they are an all-natural substitute. However, when sildenafil combines with nitrates (present in many cardiac drugs, such as nitroglycerin), it becomes very harmful. A potentially fatal decrease in blood pressure may result from this combination. You are probably more vulnerable if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart problems.
Action Required: If you have these tubes in your gym bag or kitchen, stop using them right now, throw them away, or send them back for a refund.
Bayer Recall: Gastrografin and Urografin Impurities
Clinically, all formulations of the iodinated contrast agents Gastrografin and Urografin have been recalled worldwide by Bayer Plc. These solutions are frequently employed in hospitals for CT or X-rays of the vascular or gastrointestinal systems.
The discovery of a nitrosamine impurity (N-Nitroso-Meglumine) at concentrations marginally over permissible safety limits set off the recall. Although long-term exposure to nitrosamines is thought to increase the risk of cancer, the immediate harm to patients is thought to be minimal.
What you should know:
For Patients: You shouldn’t panic if you recently had a scan. In order to stop the administration of impacted batches in the future, the recall is mostly at the pharmacy and hospital levels.
For Healthcare Providers: All inventory has to be placed under quarantine right away. In order to provide uninterrupted diagnostic services, hospitals are currently moving to alternative agents like Omnipaque.
The Myth of “All-Natural” from the Pharmacist’s Point of View
A persistent issue in the supplement market is highlighted in this week’s news. “Natural” does not always equate to “Safe.” Bypassing the medical oversight required for these potent compounds, adulterating honey with prescription medicines is a method employed to deliver an instant impact that keeps customers coming back.
Please speak with your doctor or chemist if you need medical imaging or are dealing with problems like erectile dysfunction. We can offer safe, tested, and regulated substitutes that won’t endanger your heart.
Health Disclaimer
This news update is for informational purposes. If you have consumed any of the recalled honey products and experience chest pain, dizziness, or a prolonged erection, seek emergency medical care immediately. If you have upcoming imaging appointments, consult your radiology department regarding the use of alternative contrast agents. DrugsArea
